 Instructor Tools - MCCKAP

Next Exam Dates: March 1-11, 2012

Assess your critical care fellowship program with the MCCKAP online exam. Offered nationally every spring, the MCCKAP online exam is administered by critical care program directors to assess the strengths and weaknesses of their fellowship program participants. Program directors often administer the exam as a preparation tool for the critical care subspecialty examination to identify topic areas that need further study.

Available in both adult and pediatric formats, the exam is offered exclusively online and consists of 200 multiple-choice questions pertaining to critical care knowledge and patient management based on national standards. Exam content is developed by multiprofessional critical care professionals experienced in exam preparation and analysis.

Program directors can assess their fellowship program participants both as individuals and as a group. Immediate preliminary scores and analysis are available to the examinee and the corresponding program director upon completion of the test. Final results are available approximately three to four weeks after exam week.

The MCCKAP exam allows program directors to:

  • Prepare fellows for the subspecialty board examinations in critical care
  • Identify specific areas of strengths and weaknesses for each fellow in their study of critical care with lists of references and key terms for missed questions
  • Receive results for each individual fellow and the overall program as well as the institution’s national ranking

·Program Director’s Page
Program directors are able to see the progress of their fellows in real time and access raw scores immediately upon student completion through the program director's page. The program director's page also provides access to a subject-by-subject breakdown of fellows' performance.

·Student Enrollment Process
Once exams have been ordered by the program, directors only need to enter fellows' names and emails in the program director's page and click a button to send login information for fellows to begin the exam.

·Presentation Format
The MCCKAP online exams are presented as a 4-hour, timed multiple-choice test with accompanying graphics including diagnostic imaging, monitoring waveforms, and photomicrographs. The exam is given in English and requires a connection to the Internet. The program is best viewed using Internet Explorer, although it may also be viewed using other browsers. The program
is not currently compatible with Apple Mobile OS [i.e., iPad, iPhone].) For more information on system requirements, click below.
