Neurology
Neurologic diseases and injuries are among the most devastating critical conditions our patients and families must face. When patients suffer a stroke, or a traumatic brain or spinal cord injury, critical care practitioners must identify and act expeditiously in both the assessment and management of this diverse group of patients. In addition to injury to the central nervous system, many patients experience delirium in response to the environment, medications, and illnesses seen in the ICU. Ongoing investigation is needed to maximize the potential for meaningful recovery after neurologic injury. This section will help keep you updated on these important areas.
