Cardiovascular diseases are among the most common causes of ICU admission. Caring for patients with cardiac disease poses a unique challenge to the critical care provider because of the wide variety and potential severity of presentations. Stabilizing hemodynamic status, improving cardiac flow, and maintaining the delicate balance of oxygenation and tissue perfusion aspects in caring for these patients. This section will provide some answers to the many questions critical care providers may have in improving care to the cardiac patient.
