Welcome to the Pediatric Resident Education web site ! This site has been developed by the Pediatric Resident Education Committee, a sub-committee of the Pediatric Section of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM).

The site contains educational material in the form of Adobe PDF presentations on topics that form a core curriculum for housetaff (medical students and residents) in the area of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. These presentations have been authored by members of the Resident Education Committee and are available for download to your computer/server.

The presentations currently DO NOT constitute a self-study package and are designed to provide a template for didactic sessions to be conducted by attending physicians or their designees. This allow s for incorporation of patients currently in your PICU and the introduction of management approach or demographics specific to your institution.

The second phase of this site's development involves an "end of rotation" online test with case-scenario based questions. This requires a log-on password and program code for your residency program. Please register online if your residency program wishes to participate in this online examination.

Pediatric Critical Care continues to be an exciting and evolving field and we hope you share our goal of better patient care through better education.

The contents of the presentations have been peer-reviewed by members of the committee and are meant solely for educational purposes. As always, decisions regarding diagnosis, therapy and prognosis should be made by the attending physician and these presentations should not be construed as advice regarding patient care.

We encourage you to send us feedback and suggestions that we can incorporate in future enhancements to this site.
