Clinical Practice

The Clinical Practice home page is divided into two sections; knowledge and applications.  These Web pages will help the critical care practitioner to understand theory, physiology/pathophysiology of disease processes, pharmacology, epidemiology, prevention, and application of principles of best practice to improve patient care.

Foundations of our knowledge base are established in small increments that often are disconnected and fragmented.  Connecting these fragments and adding branches on our knowledge tree occur over our lives as new discoveries are made and personal experience expands our horizons.  Lifelong learning is our duty and obligation, building on the foundations during our core training, enriching our experiences with those of other disciplines, and weighing cutting edge discoveries in both concept and practice.

These Web pages will provide information that is current, innovative, and at times controversial.  Information will be organized into building blocks called knowledge lines.  These knowledge lines will provide access to various sources of information -- not only from the SCCM, but other organizations as well.

Critical care practitioners will have the most current information at their finger tips.   These Web pages will help test their knowledge and prepare them for changes within the healthcare arena.
